Mississippi State University-Meridian held the Class of 2025 White Coat Ceremony for the Physician Assistant Studies Program students on Feb. 29 at the Riley Center in Meridian. 

Among those students receiving a white coat was Matthew Kitrell of  Philadelphia who will do clinical rotations during his last year. He currently resides in Meridian. Congratulations!

The Neshoba Central Middle School math teachers have been recognized by the Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools (PREPS) for outstanding growth for the 2023 school year. Congratulations!

The Mississippi University for Women held its annual Scholars Luncheon on the campus honoring seniors who were awarded scholarships to the university for the upcoming year. One of those Class of 2024 seniors was Kaylee Blair who attends Neshoba Central High School. She was accompanied by her very proud mother, Kristen Blair. Her equally proud father, Scott Blair, was unable to attend. Congratulations!

Welcome home, Baby Ellis Skinner! Ellis came home to sleep in his own little crib in his own nursery inside his own home on Feb. 27. His journey home was the answer to many, many prayers. His thankful parents are Dr. Thad and Sara Breland Skinner. So very happy for this little family!

Leake Academy sophomore Liza Kate Long was selected to attend the Mississippi Governor’s School this coming summer at the Mississippi University for Women. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Annie Kate White riding her horse, Hot N Deluxe, in the Arbuckle Mountain 4-Year-Old Intermediate Amateur Champions! She was also ranked in the Top Ten 4-year-old Amateur Intermediate Finals! Annie Kate has competed and won in many other shows. She is an accomplished rider with a lot of talent. Her parents are William and Leigh Ann Hatcher White.

Meredith Adams modeled a lovely dress in the Mississippi State University fashion show last week. She looked beautiful and did a great job modeling for the audience which included her mother, Monica Adams. Meredith is a member of the MSU Fashion Board. Her parents are Russell and Monica Adams.

Congratulations to Samuel Prince on making the MAIS Futures team and playing in the MAIS Futures Game. He is a sophomore at Leake Academy and plays on the varsity basketball team. His grandparents, Jimmy and Phyllis Prince, attended the game along with his parents, Phillip and Valeria Prince.

Pat Mioton was joined by nieces Kay Gordon Stephens, Debbie Byars Beddingfield; great nephew, Blake Gordon; Scott Beddingfield, Angie Gordon, Madison Graham; and friend Kirk Morgan Monday evening as they attended the East Central Community College women’s basketball game against Copiah-Lincoln. Pat’s great niece, Dr. Britta Stephens, is the head coach for Co-Lin. Although Co-Lin lost, Pat enjoyed watching her great niece coach, and her Alma Mater win.
