The Neshoba Central Junior High Baseball Team won the Central Mississippi Championship last Monday night in playoffs! They played and beat Quitman 4-0 and moved up to the State Championship game against West Lauderdale which they won 2-0.

They were both very exciting games requiring every player on the team to do his part. There were several MVP Awards given, and a huge trophy was presented to the team. It was a remarkable season for this junior high team who lost one game the entire season! Congratulations!

A wedding shower celebration honoring Emma Kate Winstead was held last Sunday afternoon in the parish hall at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The hall looked festive with round tables covered in white floor-length cloths with burlap toppers and centerpieces of fresh-cut flowers. The serving table was also covered in matching tablecloths with a colorful floral centerpiece. Pots of geraniums accented the back of the table. An assortment of luscious finger foods was served along with pink punch.

Emma Kate, looking lovely in an ecru crocheted spring dress, opened the many thoughtful gifts brought by the guests. It was fun to see what each beautifully wrapped box contained. She and Jared Michael Brister will be married at Holy Cross Catholic Church in an evening ceremony on May 18.

Hostesses for the shower were Gail Allen, Denise Crenshaw, Jo Helen Daly, Beth Dunn, Marianne Enochs, Regina Hicks, Ashley McCall, Jo Beth McGilbra, Ginger Stovall, and Amy Taylor.

Spring break for the Walker children was the first week in April, so they loaded up their vehicle and prepared to come to Mississippi to visit their grandparents, Mack and Sherry Alford. Jennifer, Emily, Grace, and Jason Walker were so excited to be returning to Mississippi. Glen Walker had to stay behind in Macon because he had to work, but also someone had to take care of Pearl, the newest addition to the family!

Since they live in a city, the children enjoy spending time in the quiet of the country with all of its beautiful scenery. They also attended an event on the Choctaw Indian Reservation where they observed women weaving baskets, traditional dances by the Choctaw group, and other interesting displays. The Agricultural Museum in Jackson was another fascinating experience. The old cotton picking equipment was especially interesting.

The giant rocking chair in which the entire family could sit at the same time offered a fun picture opportunity. The week passed by too quickly and it was time to say goodbye until the next time!          Mack and Sherry always love to have the Walkers visit and the Walkers love to come. Maybe next time Pearl, the puppy, will be old enough to come, too!

It has been a busy couple of weeks for Sellers and Julia Cole whose twin grandsons, Logan and Keaton Cole, are seniors. They have been experiencing a bunch of senior moments with them.

The boys were awarded two state championship rings, Logan was awarded Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Signing Day for Hinds Community College is on the agenda.

Sellers and Julia feel so fortunate to watch these boys commit to the next step in their soccer journey. What a wonderful relationship this family shares!
