Man charged with attacking his grandmother

A Neshoba County man has been arrested and charged with allegedly assaulting his grandmother at his residence near Burnside.

The man, Joshua Andrew McAdory, 34, 10050 Road 1535, was arrested and charged with exploitation of a vulnerable person, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, public drunk, and contempt of court, according to Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark.

He said deputies responded to a call on Road 1535 reporting a domestic violence event at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.

Upon arrival, Clark said deputies encountered an 83-year-old woman with “signs of assault” that included redness and scratch marks on her throat area where she had been choked. 

The woman told deputies she had been choked to the point that she quit breathing.

Clark said the woman identified her attacker as Mcadory, her grandson. She said he had fled into the woods behind the residence.

“We got the drone up in the air,” Clark said. “We could hear him yelling in the woods but had trouble getting close to him as he kept moving away from approaching deputies.”

Clark said McAdory exited the woods at nearby Road 573, better known as Dunn Road, where deputies encountered him and made the arrest after a significant struggle.

McAdory appeared “paranoid” and told deputies he would not go to jail, Clark said.

“He was very combative,” according to the Sheriff. Clark said it took two deputies to get him under control and they had to deploy Tasers.

Clark said the suspect smelled like he had been drinking.
