Trees have been reported down with power lines and and there are reports of trees on a couple houses, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said late Wednesday.

Choctaw Fire and Rescue reported about 9 p.m. multiple crews were out working to clear downed trees.

“This may take an hour or two but will take longer if they have to stop to direct traffic,” officials said as they urged people to stay at home.

Choctaw EMS received multiple reports of trees down in Conehatta, Pearl River, and the Standing Pine communities, according to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

At 8:10 p.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Pearl River moving east at 60 mph with radar indicated rotation.
