Donald J. Trump ran away with the Republican nomination for president in Neshoba County last Tuesday with 96 percent of the vote.

Joe Biden was the only Democrat on the presidential ballot.

Voter turnout was light, with only 10.39 percent of 33,894 registered voters turning out. In the Democrat Primary, 530 voters cast ballots, and in the Republican Primary, there were 2,993.

Neshoba countians cast ballots in the presidential, U.S. House of Representatives, and U.S. Senate races in the Republican and Democrat primaries.

Absentee ballots were tallied last Tuesday night but the current totals are without affidavit ballots, officials said.

In the Republican primary, voters chose between Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki R. Haley, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy for the presidential nomination. DeSantis, Ramaswamy, and Haley have since exited the race.

For the U.S. Senate, incumbent Roger Wicker faced Ghannon Burton and Dan Eubanks for the nomination. Michael Guest was the only candidate in the party’s nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives. 

In the Democrat primary, Ty Pinkins ran unopposed in the party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate.

In Neshoba County, incumbent Sen. Roger Wicker won the Republican nomination with 67.91% of the vote. Ghannon Burton received 544 votes, while Dan Eubanks received 408. Wicker received 2,019 votes. 

Pinkins won the Democratic nomination for the Senate with 98.16% of the vote. Pinkins received 426 total votes. 

Michael Guest had 99.01% of the votes with 2,887.

In statewide primary results, Trump won the Republican nomination for president with 92.7 percent of the vote. Nikki Haley received 12, 829 total votes, Ron DeSantis received 3,966 votes, while Vivek Ramaswamy received 1,074.

Trump received 225,683 total votes.

Joe Biden won the Democratic nomination for president.

Roger Wicker won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate with 61.2 percent of the vote. Ghannon Burton received 60,578 votes, while Dan Eubanks received 34,077.

Wicker received 149,177 total votes.

Ty Pinkins won the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate and was uncontested.

In the U.S. House of Representatives races, Neshoba County native Trent Kelly won the Republican nomination in the District 1 race and was uncontested.

Dianne Black won the Democratic nomination in District 1 with 84.9 percent of the vote. Black received 11,987 votes, while Matthew Williams received 2,126 votes.

Ron Eller and Andrew Smith will be advancing to a runoff in the District 2 race. Eller received 14, 734 votes to Smith’s 11,374 votes.

Bennie Thompson won the Democrat nomination in District 2 and was uncontested.

Michael Guest won the Republican nomination in the District 3 race and was uncontested.

Craig Raybon won the Democratic nomination in District 3 and was uncontested.

Mike Ezell won the Republican nomination in the District 4 race with 73.3 percent of the vote. Ezell received 51,237 total votes, Carl Boyanton received 13,273 votes, and Michael McGill received 5,362.
